I stumbled upon this quote while on IMDb.
"I get drawn to things that don't make any sense, and I learned early on not to resist that." -Danny Elfman
From what I take, I'd imagine one of his cases in point would be writing the score for the first few Burton movies. The first one he ever wrote for him was Pee-wee's Big Adventure. In my opinion, his music was made for Tim's films.
But he's probably talking about something much more basic. Maybe not even about music! But this quote just stuck in my head. I don't even know what he's talking about, but I really like this quote.
What do you guys think of it?

It definitely sounds like he's talking about Tim's movies... or maybe his band Oingo Boingo, I'm not sure. But Tim's films tend not to make sense (in realistic term) so maybe that's what he's getting at... I really don't know. ;D

Haha, yeah, that was my guess. I think anyone that decides to be a part of a Tim movie had to have just gone with their instincts. I take it you never really know what's in store when you're working with Tim. ;D

On the ES featurette he's talking about Edward - and there's such a joy about him.
Maybe that's why Danny likes working with him...

Spastic? But of course! As Jay Leno said (not in these exact words, but you get it): We had Burton on the show a while ago. He was...odd. I mean, he was nice, but, odd.
Makes me laugh.

And the response to that was "What d'you mean Jay?" With danny going up all close and looking at him oddly. Competes with best look (oh, I should screencap) of him in another interview. He just explained why they shortened the name to Boingo and that he kept getting asked that and the guy was like "Well why did you shorten it to Boingo?" And added quickly a "kidding kidding" But danny's look, stare/glare was so great. It was priceless.
Another great quote that was cute was when he was talking about edward scissorhands and scoring it. "I feel really silly saying it, but movies can make me feel really mushy when I'm working on them. And this one definately mushed me up."

I LOVE the stare/glare. It's awesome. So well done. He could've just laughed along and been like "Yeah, tell me about it" Not Danny Elfman
Mushed up. I'm using that phrase as often as I can now ^.^

Cause I can quote him, I shall do some from an interview. "Tonight I'm gonna bounce on my head. I'm gonna start a fire on my head and then bounce on it on the stage and put it out, so you don't wanna miss that. So you gotta get down here. I'm starting my hair on fire in front of everybody. Yeah, I'm just gonna douse my head with lighter fluid tonight and start my hair on fire. It's really gonna be cool."
"Fifteen years down the road. Yeah, right! (Laughs.) Didn't they tell you? I'm going to commit suicide at the end of the last show onstage, so I don't think that's gonna be possible. Don't miss it, kids! It's gonna be really exciting."

He is so cute. ^-^ I mean... You also have to hear him talking about serenada schizophrana and getting the choir girls for it. And the clarinet story... and his thing with the award Danny:"A lifetime achievement award means only two things; retirement or suicide" MIB director cuts in: Well the likelyhood is it's more of a death thing than a retirement thing *cuts back to danny* Danny: Or Death By any number of ways. *cut to danny later in interview Danny: It's like: Hey, is somebody trying to tell me it's time to get out of the business or is someone telling me I'm about to get a hit. Somebody's taking a hit out on me and they want to get the lifetime achievement award really quickly cause I'm about to, like, get it the next day.
I love him so much there. And I want his coat.
