Okay, I'm not sure if everyone here is familar with Les Mis... but it's based on the novel by Victor Hugo. It's a story of a man who's escaped from prison but is trying to do good for himself and the community.
I'm listening to the soundtrack, and this idea popped into my head - Les Mis is somewhat similar to Corpse Bride.
The character of Eponine, especially reminds me of Emily. Like Emily, Eponine wishes to be loved and the one she does love is in love with someone else.
Marius and Cosette are obviously Victor and Victoria.

I'll have to watch that soon. There was a book in the Library with the same title, but somebody lost it. *glares at BB#2* BB#2: What? I didn't do it! I don't even go to your school! Me: I know. ;P

I never really thought about it but I guess in some aspects it is sorta like Les Mis *ponders issue then nods*

woah!! Eponine = Emily, TOTALLY. But doesn't Marius almost die at the end of Les Miz? I regret to say I've never seen the play. I just have the songbook.

No, I think Valjean was the one who died and Marius married Cosette?

I'm not sure when he does that, but I know he's singing about all the revolutionaries who've died, not Marius.

Marius' friends die as the result of the battle at the barricade. Valjean dies at the end from old age (but he saves Marius from the barricade and lives to see him with Cosette). I haven't seen the show in a while, but I heard it was coming to Broadway again. Which would be spectacular if that was true.
