Ok, Here's one movie that Tim made, that can be said to be the best reflection of Tim himself. What do you like about this movie? What strikes you the saddest, the funniest, etc.

I love you. Marry me.
This movie is the best movie ever made. What do I love about it? EVERYTHING. The saddest part is the Hands part, with the inventor when he dies and Edward tries to caress his cheek but just ends up cutting it.

I love everything about this movie. (though I don't watch it very much anymore cause it makes me cry ><; The saddest part for me is he's getting beat up by Jim and when the inventor dies and of course when Kim goes "Hold Me." and he says "I can't" It's making me sad just thinking about it. But then it has lots of funny parts too like when he drinks the "lemonade" heheh I love that part. And when Edward says "And then she brought me in the back room where she took all her clothes off. " lol...Thanks for making a thread about this,Sharon XD

You know, I've been getting these offers from everyone nowadays. *laughs*
And I really agree with you squishy about the saddest part. I was about ready to cry. It wasn't just that he ends up (kindof) harming his creator while trying to touch him. It was the fact that also a) The inventor couldn't wait to show him the gift b) Edward destroys it. He doesn't have the choice. His creator died, and his hands, his only salvation that could have been saved, were destroyed. The look in his eyes after the inventor died... And his wonderment before, as the inventor showed him the gift. His childlike fascination, and his happiness. Destroyed in just two minutes... And how it seems he tries to hold the inventor up with his hands... And then I have to comment on the music as well during that scene. It's so... *sighs* I just watched that part again and feel like crying. So sad...

No sharon, I mean it ;_; *holds out da ring* I made up my own theory on the relationship between the Inventor and Edward. it's dark and twisted like most of my theories.

Post it here. I know I would love to hear it. And as a response to Erica, the part with the taking the clothes off I loved too. (when he said it in the diner) But I really really wanted to beat that woman up and give her an assult charge for trying to molest him. I was really upset at that part. I'm sure it was supposed to be kindof funny, but it was disturbing and wrong. Nothing that childlike should be treated as a sex toy, which is what she wanted to do. It was horrible for me to watch that. If I could, I would have jumped through the screen and have attacked her.

Here is what I think: Edward Scissorhands is one of the weirdest, funniest, and saddest movies ever.Johnny's performance was his best.

Ok, now just cause I saw it with my parents, and my dad was... erm... not too impressed by it, I have to ask. Does anyone think that Jim deserved his fate? And if so, why or why not? I mean, I can't actually answer that. I am glad Kim protected Edward. I'm glad Jim could not trouble them anymore. But did he really really deserve that?

I've never actually watched it the whole way through. But I have caught it on TV enough times to see about 50% of it. It really is a wonderful movie. So underrated. I like how Tim portrayed suburban life. (LOL Desparate Housewives much?) The thing is, I kind of have a hard time watching it because I seriously can't stand seeing anyone mistreating Edward. He's so gentle & sweet & adorable, it's torture to watch anyone be mean to him. The ending depresses me so. You have no idea how badly I want to jump through the screen & drag Kim up to the castle. But besides the depressing parts, the ending is beautiful. The music, Kim's dialogue, and the visual of the snow falling from the castle....it just leaves me dumbfounded. It's true cinematic perfection.
And to answer your question, Sharon: I really can't answer your question. I want to kill anyone that hurts Edward, but that's just me. I don't nessisarily think he deserved to die, but what had to be done was done. It was pure defense in my eyes.

My theory is this:
When the inventor first moved to the town in the early part of the depression, he was a young widow with an eleven-year-old son named, you guessed it, Edward. Edward was a very shy, sickly boy who was generally spoiled by his father. He eventually made friends in the town, and invited them up to the Inventor's mansion on the hill (which was very grand and lovely in its time). In those days, the factory manufactored toys for the children, and was filled with potentially dangerous equipment. None of the children were allowed in the factory room.
On one of these playdates, a young boy named Mark accidentally threw a ball into the Factory room, and Edward went to get it, crawling underneath machines to get it. Mark accidentally turn on the machine, and by the time the Inventor got down and shut it off, Edward had been crushed to death and his hands had been completly ripped off.
It was this loss that drove the inventor to solitude and secrecy. He let the old mansion go to ruin around him, and though he left the machines running, he never made another toy. It was the memory of his son that led him to look at one of his machines and get the idea to make a man......
We all know what happened after that.

I wanted to hurt that woman for doing that to Edward. >_< That was my least favorite part in the movie...

It was my least favourite part too. But it was funny the way it was stopped.
