Well, that's an Idea, but didn't Mr. Bojangles come a whole lot later than the move took place? That's true... I mean...well, then again, the underworld was anything but Victorian... so I'm guessing it didn't really matter to the directors. Not sure, really.

Bonejangles sings thirties jazz even though they're in the 1800's, so... @_@ *head explodes*

X3 bwahahaha *HUGS*
alright, here's mah lil analysis:
"I just did a search, and it turns out that Jazz, the music our dear one-eyed skeleton adores, WAS AROUND IN THE LATE 1800s. Early enough that he could've learned it before his death? Very probable, depending on what timeframe you think the movie took place in. Me, I personally think it happened in the very late 1800s, possibly 1880-1890s. If Stephen died 8-10 years before that, it would've given him enough time to learn what was probably the very beginning of jazz from the freed slaves coming north in the Great Migration after the Civil War.
Hmm.....In my personal view of his life, he was roughly...13-16 during the Civil War, and too young to go into battle (though I am aware that teenage boys lied about their ages to get in to combat. Boys as young as 15 were going to war). If I remember correctly, Missouri was a free state (don't ask me WHY I think he lived in Missouri. I really have no idea, and it's up for interpretation. I may change my mind about that later). Hmm..... so the migration of free slaves would bring some of them to Missouri, where the young and impressionable Stephen would listen eagerly to the new and strange music brought up with them......
Just a thought."

XD Yes! Thank you Jem. I was worried since this thread was slowin' down. I think the problem is that we've said all that we can back on the TBC. But hey, we're fangirls! We'll think of some more stuff to rant about when it comes to our sexy skeleton man.
