My Poem

I was going to use this for the poetry contest, but it's much too long. So I might as well put it up here. Hope you guys like it!

Requited Love

Broken promises and shattered dreams
I close my eyes and swallow a scream
I whisper a moan and stifle a cry
In a few short minutes my beloved will die
All he had to do was take a new wife
Now I have lost control of my life
Barkis’s intentions weren’t so pure
His supposed wealth was just a lure
Now I feel as if I’m on death row
This just might be the end of the show
What’s this now? The bride beckons to me
I am amazed. How can this be?
Victor slowly whispers my name
It looks as though he didn’t know I came
I blink slowly and approach the altar
Surprisingly Victor smiles without falter
The bride takes our hands and puts them together
I vow to stay like this now and forever
