*don't own the characters, just the story*
Chapter 1
Victor sat on his bed, holding a bottle of poison. He stared at the contents, closely examining them. The dark liquid slid from side to side.
It was nearly light outside…but Victor hardly took notice. He was far too distracted to get any sleep. Emily had been haunting his dreams, and he just couldn’t get her out of his mind. How desperately he longed to be at her side. He vowed forever to be by her side…and he broke that promise.
“Victor!”
“Oh no…”
“Victor, darling!”
Victor cringed. Only Emily called him darling and it wasn’t the same if someone else called him by that name. He had tried so hard to get her out of his head. “No….” he cried, “no….” He didn’t want to remember that fateful night…he didn’t want to….
“Isn’t it romantic?”
Emily giggled as she danced around in the snow.
Victor was too shy to watch her, but when he peeked over, he could see her gracefully spinning around, the moonlight shining upon her.
“If only she weren’t dead,” Victor sighed, “she’d be perfect.”
Emily waltzed over to him… holding out her hand.
“I can’t dance…I’m a terrible dancer…”
“Don’t be silly!”
“Emily, please, I – I can’t…”
But she was persistent and grabbed hold of him, and spun him around and around. Victor soon felt rather dizzy…he wasn’t used this sort of dancing! He was still rather afraid of his new wife. Her pale blue skin shone from the moonlight and her voice was soft and light…yet she was dead. How could he have married a corpse?
“Oh! Isn’t this terrific!” she sighed, “it makes me feel alive again…”
Victor didn’t know how to feel. He was sorry for Emily, yet on the other hand, he just wanted to go back to Victoria, back to his normal life. He was supposed to be marrying Victoria tomorrow and now he was betrothed to a Corpse Bride! It was a lot of stress on his mind, yet Emily didn’t seem to notice. She was quite content to be skipping around the woods.
“VICTOR!”
The memory snapped. He was back in his room, staring at the bottle of poison.
“What?”
“You were scaring me!” said Victoria, as she came towards him, “what’s the matter?”
“Nothing,” replied Victor, as he tried to smile. “Nothing at all…why don’t you go back to bed?”
“It’s near morning,” scolded Victoria, “and besides, we have that party to go to. Later on today…remember?”
Victor nodded sadly. He did not enjoy parties, or the people who went to them. All this talk of a party, he was reminded once again of Emily.
