I've always noticed how he talks about images being significant to showing a persons feelings rather than words. Lol, I dont know if this is coming out right, coz its hard to explain but its just something I love about him. He seems to focus more on the fantastical and creative side of things rather than the logical.

That makes perfect sense! I know what you mean, Claire. I love that about him too. He's ALL about feelings and emotions and explaining them in a very clear way. The best example would be, well, Edward Scissorhands. He's conveying the universal feeling of not belonging, being an outsider, being different.. by a completely random visual metaphor. And sure, the idea of one with scissors for hands isn't very realistic, but as you said: he focuses on the fantastical and creative side of things, rather than the logical or explainable. He's just great like that. His movies explain feelings and emotions in their true form, and THAT makes the movie realistic.

Also with Big Fish.. how the movie focuses on these crazy stories - giants, witches, things that we think don't exist.. Tim makes them become real to us in a sense, because we see these stories through the father's eyes. It's another great example of Burton imagery... who else could take a town that doesn't wear shoes and somehow make it believable? Or two sisters joined at the hip? Tim can and he does an amazing job...
Ah, ok, I'm done rambling.

Oh yay you both understand what I was trying to say! You're so right about Big Fish too Gen, it's such a beautiful story because it focuses more on the impossible than the possible, and the illogical than the logical. If it wasn't Tim directing, the story might seem silly or impossible, but Tim's genius just brings it to life, because we can all relate to many of the themes used in it. And this applies to all his films

I agree with you both! He's so talented like that. Such a visionary! I love that word. But you're right...if it was any other director, I doubt that it would be as great a movie. What would the World of Filmmaking be without Mr. Burton? Nowhere, that's where.

They're too quick to judge him, I think. Personally, I hate it when people call Tim "gothic" or "weird" or whatever. Because he's NOT "gothic" (whatever that means.. I HATE labels. I don't believe in them.) and he's not "weird". Really, I don't think so. He just does his own thing. He's a visionary...he tells things like it is, whether people want to believe it or not. He is an artist. He is truly a wonderful director. He is just himself...something people are too afraid to be today. Themselves. He just loves what he does, and so what if he is a little "out there"? He's just different...and in this case, different is the best thing to be.

Another thing I love about Tim, is his relationships between Depp and Danny Elfman. Those three have so much chemistry, they're like the three muskateers.
If I ever met Tim, I would have to give him a note, because I would stammer something awful!
