EMBER: Almost catching up to me ME: Mr Arrogance happens to have a lower score than Miss Mori, actually EMBER: *rolls eyes* That's because everyone loves Mori MORI: I'm so darn lovable I almost wanna give myself a hug ^.^ EMBER: As long as you don't touch me, do what you want
That's the attitude
Okay, I'm a little stuck with my fanfiction. I need advice. Would you rather read a fanfic that has quite a few chapters, but they're all reasonable lengths? Or not a lot of chapters, but they're really kinda long. Or a LOT of chapters that only have one main event?

ME: Aw, lotsa people love ya too, dude. MORI: Huh. "Lotsa people." That's a funny way to refer to yourself. ME: *elbows her* MORI: Ow! ME: *makes a "zip it" motion*
Dun dun DUN!
Hmm....been done too much.
Well.......that could make the reader lose interest. Gotta remember those of us with short attention spans.
I'd go with that. Just to keep the plot from getting too confusing.

Mori got hurt again, but I think she won, too
Not quite that stuck, but I appreciate the drama
*looks at options* I'm not a fan of typing out really long chapters, either. If there's only, like, five or seven chapters, it'll make the fanfic look short, but when people go to read it, it'll be like o.O I'm still kind of leaning towards putting it somewhere in the middle. Maybe a few events in each chapter. Like, there's one where Tara and Shape and Carrion and another character, Ignacio, are on Vesper's Rocks. Carrion's making a creature for Shape to ride while he tries to kidnap Candy, and the other three are waiting on the beach. I have a few things happen there. The beginning of the chapter will probably be their arrival there, the middle will include a few little things (Tara and Shape and Ignacio all talk about whatever, which I'm hoping will be an interesting scene), Tara finds Skitter (.....you'll see), and so on and so forth, and then the chapter will end with the creature coming out, shape leaving on it, and Carrion bringing Tara back to Gorgossium. That's probably where the next chapter will open up, too.
*looks at explanation* .......maybe I should just make more of an effort to write less ^.^;;;

EMBER: Maybe she sould just stay out of other people's business. ME: Don't ask for miracles, dude.
I know. Seriously. When I go to read fanfics & I see the chapters are a million miles long, I'm like "Whoa, screw this, man" and I stop reading it. Keep in mind, my attention span is quite short.
I suppose that makes sense. I'd try to think of your story like a movie, and deciding where each scene will open if you kept pressing the "skip" button on your DVD player.

MORI: *has been spacing* What? Who? Who should stay out of other people's business? Tell me! EMBER: *glances at me* My point exactly ME: You really wanna know, Mori? MORI: .......oh ^.^;;;
I only have a short attention span when I feel like it. Usually I'm pretty good at keeping focused. The thing is, wheneve rI see long fanfics, they always seem to have really eloquent writing and fancy vocabulary, for some reason. It's like, only insanely advanced writers write a lot. I dunno. I understand why that is, but it's kinda funny, still
Stop reading my mind! You're freakin me out, dudette I've kinda been doing that. Or, like, if there's a commercial break or something like that. I actually usually break up one scene into two parts, to make a semi-cliffhanger. Like, where that chapter ends with Tara and Carrion leaving in the glyph, it'll pick up right there again at the beginning of the next chapter. Otherwise, It'll feel like I skipped a whole scene. I just think it does a better job of connecting the story and pulling the reader along steadily, instead of jumping from one thing to another. More fluid, y'know?

Jeez....and I thought I spaced out a lot.
Yea, I know. Long chapters + fancy vocab = Lizzie no read-ee
*does cheesy magic-like hand movements*
Always a good idea. Keep 'em wanting more.
Yup.

Well, what if mine accidentally has long chapters and semi-fancy vocab? ^.^;;; If it happens, it'll be an accident, trust me. I'm not looking to make this the best writing ever. I want nice writing, with really good characters, dialogue, emotion, and visuals. And action, near the end of the second one. Honestly, by the time people have been reading the second one(I hope...), the ending will be pretty obvious, but I still want it to be a whole "jaw-dropping, mind-boggling" WHOA! ending that makes em all say "Write a sequel! Write a sequel now, dammit!"

Well.....alright. I suppose I could force myself to read it. *nods* Sounds good to me. Although visuals were never all that important to me. I hate it when writers spend 5 pages describing the surroundings. *nods* Good luck w/ that. ......Tara left me.

TARA! HOW THE HELL?! I hate you!! I had school today! You suck. =)
It's official: Kingdom Hearts II is messed up. They screw you over SO bad, making you want to play and play and play and screwing things up just by doing that, and then you're like, at the end, but you aren't even close to being levelled-up (SP?) enough to come slightly close to beating the first boss (who, by the way, is actually the hardest boss in KHII, but he's not the last one...dumb, I know....)
But Tara, where are you in KHII?
Sorry for only posting about videogames guys ^^;;;;;;;; It'll be over soon when I beat the game (which would have been today if Square wasn't evil)

Hiya Rae! (Your timing's as bad as Tara's. I gotta go)
That smiley face totally killed the angry mood in that post.
Meh, can't get mad at you for that after me & Tara's extreme-quoting phase.
ME: I should probably go. Rae's probably gonna leave soon & this place ain't exactly jumpin'. MORI: Aw, but ya still got us! EMBER: *opens his mouth to say something* ME: .....not your most persuasive argument, Mori. EMBER: .......*closes his mouth & leans back in his couch* MORI: *looks over at him & smirks* EMBER: *ignores her* ME: Well......I guess I could stick around for a bit... MORI: Yayfun! ;D EMBER: Oh God.....Mori using Lizisms. Someone shoot me now. ME: I wouldn't say that when there's someone in this room who actually has a gun, and that person ain't exactly president of your fan club. TIDES: *whistles innocently & tries to hide gun* HAZEL: *can't help but laugh a little* ME: ^_^ *sits down at the piano, plays something* EMBER: *subtley glances over & listens* ME: *starts singing* So many times out there, I've watched a happy pair Of lovers walking in the night. They had a kind of glow around them. It almost looked like Heaven's light. I knew I'd never know that warm & loving glow. Though I might wish with all my might. No face as hideous as my face was ever meant for Heaven's light. But suddenly an angel has smiled at me. And kissed my cheek without a trace of fright. I dare to dream that he might even care for me. And as I ring these bells tonight, My cold, dark tower seems so bright. I swear, it must be Heaven's Light...... *finishes playing* EMBER: *smiles a little* MORI: Aw, nice job, Liz. *looks up at Ember* Don'tcha think so? EMBER: ....I dunno. I wasn't really listening. MORI: *raises an eyebrow* Anyone ever tell you you suck at lying? EMBER: *rolls eyes & goes back to his book* MORI: Anyway, nice job, Liz. ME: Thanx. I love that song. Hunchback rulz. But in one line, I had to change a "she" to a "he" just 'cause....y'know. I'm a girl. MORI: *nods* Right. ME: *looks at the clock* Well, it's past my naptime. I'ma split for now. But I'll be back later this evening. MORI: You sure you wanna leave? ME: *nods* Cya later. MORI: Bye bye. ME: Bye Ember. EMBER: *doesn't look up from his book* Uh-huh. ME: -_-;; *shakes head & walks out the door*

You're too kind
Yeah, people tend to overload imagery. Steer clear of adjectives and adverbs, and use verbs to your advantage whenever you can. People tend to neglect verbs (heh, neglect. there's a good one)
Because your school building is semi-nice and not as old as time itself, whereas mine is falling apart and officially sucks ^.^ I'm so happy
Pretty damn close to the ending, which Mary went through today anyway. She just played from the point where I am and finished it, so now I don't have motivation anymore. ah, well. Ansem is one big computer nerd. Seriously, that's all he is
Wow. Ember, were you really about to quote Ice Age 2? I'm not saying that's a pathetic thing to do, cause I've done it numerous times, but for you.......well, it'd be a first
*laughs, too*
I love that movie. That's actually one of my least favorite songs for some reason, but I still like it. Awesomeness
Just because I haven't said anything sarcastic for a while, I'll pull an Ember: No need for threats TIDES: .......that might've been funny if you didn't spend twice as long explaining it ME: It's what I do. Get over it
Dang. Now Ember's pulling a Tara. This is creepy *stays away from Ember*

Oh, and since I'm in a bad mood, I might as well tell you (or nobody) that I'm not gonna be here on Friday. I'm going to a dance.

I know. I should work on that. I know. I like being able to picture my own setting. EMBER: *shrugs* The line seemed to fit the situation. Ditto. I've always liked it, but I was in a full-on obsession over the summer. (Mostly 'cause of Clopin) Seriously? How come? *agrees* No. Well, it sux that you're not gonna be here. But it's awesome that you're going to a dance.
