ME: *sits with Hazel (picking it up wher eI left off)* Hey
HAZEL: How's everything going for you?
ME: I have no clue
HAZEL: *laughs* I think that makes two of us
ME: Yeah.......you looked kinda sad when you were watching everyone dance today
HAZEL: Hm? Oh, yeah. Well.....y'know, you're all so young and having fun out there, and I'm just...well, I'm a bitter old lady, basically
ME: Hold on. You're not that bitter, and you're not even that old! You're 30!
HAZEL: My hair's starting to get darker
ME: At age 30? Wow. Well, don't worry about it. That'll make you look younger
HAZEL: But it means I'm getting older
ME: That's not even the reason you were sad
HAZEL: Don't I always look like I'm sad? Even when I smile, I have this sad look on my face
ME: It's mostly in your eyes. You're wearing the mask, so no one can really tell, anyway
HAZEL: Of course, I'm an illusionist. It's my job to hide things from people, to not let them see the truth. Or what they believe is the truth, anyway. It's different for everyone, because no two people believe exactly the same thing

HAZEL: Well, I've been doing it since I was eleven. It's become habitual for me
ME: That's gotta be a cool thing to do. To be able to hide from everyone
HAZEL: Not everyone. There are two people who, 90% of the time, I can't hide anything from
ME: Mori and Ember?
HAZEL: *nods* And partly Tides, because we've known each other longest, in terms of the League. Not counting Mori and Ember, because Mori joined the League long after Tides or Ember did
ME: Yeah, I get what you're saying
HAZEL: It's kind of nice, because if I want someone to know something, I don't have to lose the illusionist title. I can hide it from everyone else and those two will still figure it out. In another way, it's annoying, because I'm obviously not the best I can be
ME: You know, being the best you can be doesn't necessarily mean you have to be perfect
HAZEL: .......
ME: Just...think about it. Maybe illusionism isn't your thing *walks off*
HAZEL: .......*pulls the deck of cards from the sash around her waist and starts shuffling them. goes through a routine, counts to six, then stops immediately. pulls out the card directly in the middle and looks at it*
CARD: *Ace of Hearts*
HAZEL: *eyes widen. puts card back in deck quickly and keeps shuffling*

For the record, when I said figures, I meant for it to be to Liz saying that she had forgotten we were dancing. Not that Gen was losing her mind. I'm just a really, really, really slow typer.

HAZEL: *glances at Ember and smiles* You could go take your own advice right about now *goes back to shuffling cards and doing some fancy tricks*
MORI: Wow. How does she always manage to beat you? EMBER: She doesn't. Fate just brings you into the conversation on the rare ocassion she has me in a corner
HAZEL: *sticks tongue out at Ember*
MORI: *laughs*
